Admiring 17th century paintings while sipping a coffee or aperitif may normally be a rare occurrence, that is unless you are in a town as historic and enigmatic as Cortona.
Renovating the part of the monastery that now houses the bar has brought to light parts of very old frescos that seem to depict a battle. These have been carefully restored, returning the original intense colours to life.
“Gli Affreschi” Bar is open during the day from 7.30am until 10.30am for breakfast and then from 11am to 11pm offering coffees and cappuccinos, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, sparkling wines, cocktails, snacks and light delights.
The pastries are made in-house.
